Dog health symptoms
Here are some signs of a healthy dog:
- Your dog’s skin should be supple and smooth, and should not have scabs, growths and rashes.
- Your dog’s coat should be glossy, free of dandruff or any areas of baldness, and with no signs of parasites.
- Your dog’s eyes are bright, not watery and free of discharge.
- Your dog’s ears on the inside should be light pink (though dark-skinned dogs may have black pigment), clean or with just a slight trace of wax, not swollen, and free of discharge.
- Your dog’s nose should be moist — not necessarily wet, but not dry or cracked.
- Your dog’s temperature should be 100 to 102.5 degrees (101.5 is the average).
- Your dog’s gums are normally pink, but they can have black or gray pigment.
- Ensure that your dog stools should be firm and free of parasites.
Symptom that your dogs is sick
If you think that your dog is not feeling well, one of your responsibilities as a dog owner is to bring her to a veterinarian. Some indications that your dog could be sick:
- When you notice a significant change in your dog behavior (such as increased irritability)
- If you perceived that your dog is in pain or is lethargic
- If you noticed that your dog is in visible pain (such as limping or chewing on a joint)
- If your dog has persistent vomiting
- If your dog has persistent diarrhea
- Ir your dog has persistent coughing
- If you notice that your dog is not wanting to eat or signs of a lack of appetite
- If you notice that your dog is drinking excessive
- Ir you notice that your dog is urinating excessively
If any of these symptoms last more than 24 hours, you should bring your dog to your veterinary. You should also bring your dog in for routine checkups and dental care.
